Atomicflump Jewellery is owned and all
handmade by me, Anita Thomson

My name is Anita Thomson and I'm based in Weston Super Mare, UK. I started Atomicflump in 2008 with a little help from my uber fantastico partner, Dave. My little creations take inspiration from animals, current trends, retro tv shows and retro sweets.

I've tried to create something that is different and that will make most people smile. That is probably the most pleasurable thing when selling my items at local craft fairs or markets; that they catch the eye and give people a giggle. I'm not really a very serious person, hence the photo of me above. So to incorporate quirky designs like tortoises stuck on their backs and sheep sticking out their tongues was what came naturally when I started thinking of animal designs. This site and my designs probably reflect my personality quite well. If you think they are cute, then we would most likely get on fantastically!!

All Handmade:

All of the items are hand made by me. The main component is polymer clay. This is a soft clay that you can mold into anything. After molding each animal or item I am designing, the process is simply to place the items into a conventional oven. I have a separate oven that I use for this purpose as I use it a lot. The cooking time is approx 15-20 mins, depending on the amount, you can adjust the time. After it is removed from the oven and the items have cooled they will then have hardened.

When hardened the items are lightweight and longlasting. Which lends polymer clay to be used for jewellery or accessories. I varnish each item by hand with an acrylic satin varnish and I then turn each item into an adornment like the ones below by simply adding ear wires, lanyards etc.
